Startup events you can’t miss!

With summer coming to an end and the start of a new season, there are a lot of events coming up that you should definitely check out. The startup ecosystem comes back to life and the options are countless, hence it can be overwhelming to decide which ones are most relevant.

The team from ESA BIC Finland has collected some interesting must-go events the topics of which are -in one way or another- related to the space industry. What’s even better? At most of these events, you will be able to meet the startups from the ESA BIC Finland project and staff members. Here they are:

1. NORDEEP Summit (September 18-19, 2024)

Nordic Deep Tech Business Summit is the most effective business and commercialization-oriented event for deep tech in Europe. The focus is on quality networking and discovering opportunities for collaboration between academia, private and public sectors. The 2-day event brings together a focused international crowd of startups, research teams, research institutions, investors, corporates, media and influencers. The event organized by ArcticStartup, a startup media covering Nordics and Baltics since 2007.

2. Space Business Forum (September 25, 2024)

The Space Business Forum is a community of Finnish space operators that meets five times a year. The meetings cover current and future issues in space business and research; technology-related issues, and initiatives and frameworks for international cooperation within the European Space Agency (ESA), the EU and outside Europe. The main contribution of the meetings will be presentations by companies and research organizations, and in particular discussions and networking.

3. Space Apps Challenge (October 6, 2024)

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is a hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, technologists, and innovators around the world to come together and use open data from NASA and its Space Agency Partners to create solutions to challenges we face on Earth and in space. All ages, skill levels, and professional backgrounds are welcome. At NASA Space Apps, there’s always space for one more!

4. GeoForum Summit 2024 (October 7-8, 2024)

Book your place in Finland’s largest event in the geospatial industry! GeoForum Summit is an annual event that brings together experts and top professionals in the field of geoinformatics, people working and studying in the field and those interested in geospatial data. Open to all and free of charge, the keynotes, workshops, and two-day exhibition will include case studies and presentations from the most interesting actors in the field of geospatial information. There will also be a top-class specialist seminar.

5. Junction 2024 (November 8-10, 2024)

Junction brings passionate minds together to create solutions that leave a lasting impact. Their events bridge the gap between creators and make everyone fall in love with technology. Junction 2024 is all about embracing this evolution while emphasizing the irreplaceable value of face-to-face connections in sparking game-changing solutions. Join them at Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki on November 8-10 for a celebration of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and the joy of being together.

6. Slush (November 20-21, 2024)

Slush is a not-for-profit organization on a mission to help and create founders to change the world. Based in Helsinki, Slush annually hosts the world’s leading startup event bringing together a curated crowd of European startups, world-class investors, and tech journalists. They stand by relevance over scale, bringing tangible value, and sharing actionable company-building advice. No fluff. Slush is run by a group of students and recent graduates, and the main event is made possible with the help of 1,600 volunteers.
